Mr. Awadhesh Kumar Jha

Mr. Awadhesh Jha is the Vice President – Charge & Drive and Sustainability, Fortum India.

Fortum, a clean energy company has embarked upon a journey in India to transform mobility in India by providing Energy as a Service (EaaS) to Electrical Vehicles. Starting with a pilot of 4 AC Type-2 Charging Points in October 2017, we are presently operating in five cities – Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad.

We have 66 DC Charging Points in the public charging network. Since the launch of our DC fast charging stations in Hyderabad, we have been observing the positive adoption of Electric Vehicles by customers.

We have more than 900 registered users and more than 1500 customers have downloaded our mobile APP. These are smart chargers which are unmanned and gives freedom to the consumer to take control of charging need of their vehicle at the location of their choice, and at time of their convenience without any intrusion from other person.

He has been working with Fortum since July 2014. Prior to Fortum, he worked with Ministry of Water Resources for 15 years followed by six years in Hindustan Power Projects Private Ltd where Awadhesh was instrumental in securing concession of hydro projects and its development.

Awadhesh has over 28 years of experience in the energy industry spanning across the Government and Private sector. He brings with him first-hand experience in Policy formulation, Strategic Planning, General Management, Business Development, Project Development in PPP mode, Land Acquisition, Environment & Forest Clearances and its compliances, Contract Documentation & Management, Techno- Commercial Negotiation, Asset Management of Solar Projects, establishing and running new business in Power Sector by assuming leadership position in Private and Government sector.

Awadhesh has been instrumental in developing EHS management system and procedures in Hindustan Power projects and for Fortum India as well. Sustainability Due Diligence and Supplier’s assessment to sustainability/EHS standards has been one of his strength areas. He is a Certified Sustainability Assurance Practitioner (CSAP).

A Civil Engineering Graduate, Awadhesh also holds a Master’s in Business Administration for Working Managers from IIM- Lucknow.

Awadhesh is quite active on LinkedIn and shares his thought across various topics ranging from electric mobility to hydro to sustainability. In his leisure he likes to indulge in reading, watching Bollywood movies, cricket matches etc. During his college days he was an avid orator and quiz participant.

Fortum Charge & Drive is a pioneer in electric vehicle charging. As Charge Point Operator it has a network of more than 3000 smart chargers in Nordic country out of which more than 30% are DC quick chargers. The cloud-based (SaaS) architecture enables flexible, pay-as-you-grow models, and white/grey label alternatives. This service is configured to suit a wide array of custom requirements, from back-end administration allowing an operator to see the status of charger, control charging (e.g. start, stop, restart), manage charging, connect and configure chargers, Remote monitoring and diagnostics, and Price plan administration, to the front-end branding of the consumer mobile app and web portal.
